Save Toshi is a 3D based physics puzzler from developer Nitako. In the game, the main character is Toshi-san, a Japanese mega pop star that loves to dance.  Unfortunately, she has lost the ability to walk so you must help her reach the dance floor. This is where the puzzling element comes in. Toshi stands on top of various platforms and blocks that you must either destroy or move in order to get her on the dance floor.

What you do in Save Toshi is throw balls at block and platforms. Each block reacts differently depending on what kind of blocks they are and what kind of surface they are sitting on. You can earn up to 3 stars on each level depending on how many ball throws it takes for you to complete any given puzzle. The puzzles can be quite challenging and usually you need to just study them a bit first in order to figure out what to do. As you play, each level gets progressively harder and harder.

Graphically, Save Toshi is pretty good. Everything is in 3D and the main character Toshi is rendered quite well and very smooth looking. Her animations are very smooth too and lifelike. Everything in the game is very colorful and has an anime feel to it. On the sound side, the music is very catchy and has a very Japanese pop feel to it. Toshi’s voice however is a bit annoying but she does say some funny things. All-in-all it’s a very technically solid game with very little not to like about it.

If you love puzzle games, you’ll enjoy Save Toshi. The puzzles can be pretty challenging and their are quite a lot of levels to keep you occupied for a while. Some of the puzzles might be difficult for younger children, but I think they would still have fun playing it just to mess around on each level.
