Warning: Not really a game for young children as it’s an adult theme and there is quite a bit of blood and violence in this game. If you’re old enough to play though, continue on.

Before I start this review off, let’s start with yes, this is another zombie game. Yes, its a typical zombie shooter where the goal is to kill as many zombies as possible and keep them back from your location and no, it’s not really much different from all the other zombie games that might be in the App Store. The question then is, is it fun and is there enough to distinguish this game from the masses? I’ll let you be the judge of that.

The plot of Terrorist Zombies is simple. You are a lone Marine who has been dropped into an area on the verge of zombie infestation. It’s up to you to keep back the invading horde and defend the last of the survivors so that they can be evacuated to safety. As you can sort of guess from the title, these aren’t your ordinary zombies. These are terrorist zombies. Somehow in the future, terrorist have discovered a way of injection neurotoxins into the human body and turning them into human bombs, thus the name of the title. You must keep back the zombies otherwise if they reach your location, they will explode causing quite a bit of damage to your health. Sounds like the typical day of a Marine right?

The controls on Terrorist Zombies are easy to pick up. With your left thumb, you can move it around anywhere on the screen to move your targeting sights. You don’t tap on enemies, you move your thumb like you would a joystick to move the sights. With you right thumb, you would tap on the trigger icon to fire your gun, throw grenades, or engage your adrenaline shot. It’s a pretty easy setup to master after a couple play throughs.

The graphics are not too bad although they aren’t optimized for Retina Display so if you’re on an iPhone 4 or the 4th gen iPod Touch, the graphics area bit blurry and you can see some jagged edges as well. It’s not a big deal as it doesn’t take away from the gameplay, but if you are one of those really picky people, it might be a bit distracting to you. Character design is also on the bland side as all the zombies look too much the same.

On the gameplay side of things, Terrorist Zombies does prove to be a pretty fun game. The zombies can really come at you pretty fast and if you don’t have the right weapon loaded, you can be overwhelmed. Luckily, the game does provide some decent powerups to help you along the way and the adrenaline shot can slow the action down a bit if you feel like you need some help.

All-in-all, Terrorist Zombies is a good game in the zombie genre. It doesn’t quite have the uniqueness of some other zombie related games, but it does have the fun factor. The action can be pretty intense and thank goodness the controls are responsive and accurate for this type of game. Terrorist Zombie is a solid game that needs a few improvements but these improvements don’t hold back the actual gameplay. I’d like to see Retina Display support and a bit more variation with the zombies. Other than that, if you like zombie survival games, you can’t really go wrong with Terrorist Zombies.
