Blogging is a huge thing these days as we all need an outlet sometimes to express how we feel and it’s also a very easy way of spreading our knowledge around to the world. Blogs are everywhere and they aren’t going away anytime soon. If you’re new to blogging, we have a few recommendations of some popular blogging software that a lot of people use that are very easy to set up and are free. I’ve used two of the three I am going to recommend and these three seem to be the most popular ones in the App Store right now. The sites they are associated with are also the most popular on the internet thanks to being free, having a wide range of themes you can pick from, and having a huge fan base.
WordPress – WordPress is what we use here for The Gamer With Kids. It’s easy to use, highly customizable, and you can either host it on WordPress.com or your own server. The app allows you to manage all posts and comments and works well in a pinch when you are not near a computer and need to make a quick post or approve a comment.
Tumblr – tumblr is another great blogging platform. This one difference from WordPress in that tumblr is more personal and is similar to twitter but allows for much more. Tumblr allows you to post images, movies, audio, short quotes, and long thoughts. Tumblr is much simpler than WordPress and might appeal more to the general audience. The app does everything that the website does and is also very simplistic and very easy to use.
Posterous – Posterous is the site I have no experience with but it looks very similar to tumblr in nature. The app also looks really polished and has a really high rating in the App Store.
The one app hat I could not include on here is for Blogger and that is because Google does not have an app for it in the App Store. That as one of the main reasons I had originally moved my site off Blogger and to WordPress because there was no app. If you are on Android, there is a Blogger app, but that doesn’t really help us iPhone users out. If Google ever does decide to make a Blogger app for iOS, it will definitely be on this list as it is a site that many people use to blog.

What do you think of the BlogPress app? I have it but haven’t used it yet (!!).
I have not tried that one yet. I was mainly trying to post some free apps but BlogPress does look interesting. I’ll check it out.
