World Academy is a new geography trivia game from developers Makers Interactive. Unlike other trivia games, World Academy uses images and audio clips to test your knowledge of the world. In the game, you are presented with an image or audio clip and must guess correctly what country they are from. The images can range from anything as a landmark to a specific food from that country. With the audio clips, it could be a song or a specific phrase. If you are unfamiliar with much of the world, World Academy could prove to be quite a challenge to you. If you have experienced other cultures, the game could be a nice way to brush up on your world knowledge.
Graphically, World Academy isn’t really anything ground breaking. Most of the game consists of looking a giant, simplistic world map where each country is represented with a different color. You can zoom in and out of the map if you need to get a closer look at the smaller countries but other than that, there isn’t much detail to the maps. Trivia questions use a series of stock photos and audio clips are either snippets of a song or a phrase.
Navigating yourself around the user interface is simple and requires mostly just tapping on the screen. All you have to do is tap the country you want as your answer. If you want to zoom to see the smaller countries, just pinch with 2 fingers.
Other than that, there’s nothing really too technical about World Academy. What’s import really is the game itself and it’s actually not a bad trivia game. You can pick up the game now for free in the App Store but it only allows you to play the easy mode which in my opinion is a bit too easy but then again your experience with it might be different. In order to play the medium or hard modes, you need to purchase then via in-app purchasing. I would give World Academy a try since it’s free. You may only get the easy mode for free, but at least you’ll get a taste of what the game is like.
