TGWK’s Review of “iMimic” v1.1 (iOS)

iMimic is a simple memory game from indie creators Fernando Sciessere and Everson Siqueira. If you’re thinking to yourself that iMimic might look familiar, you’re right. iMimic is modeled after the retro game Simon. Unlike other clones however, iMimic faithfully “mimics” the classic Simon game right down the to the classic electronic noises and the familiar look of the plastic toy. What makes iMimic also very appealing is that it is a universal app so if you want it to look and feel even more like the original game, load it up on the iPad for a much larger playing experience.

iMimic is a free, ad supported game. The base game is your typical Simon style game. Each level consists of adding one color/tone per round and you must repeat the exact pattern when it’s your turn. Depending on how good you are, the game itself can last for quite a while. Of course if you’re no good at games like this, you’ll probably only last a few rounds. iMimic starts off pretty slowly but as you progress, the speed increases to the point where it becomes really challenging and tough to follow if you don’t give the game your full attention.

All-in-all, a very good interpretation of Simon that is very close to the look and feel of the original. Most should be happy with the free ad supported version as the ad doesn’t really get in the way but if you decide to upgrade the game to the full version, all the ads will be removed and you’ll get access to “iMimic Challenge” which extends the gameplay up to level 99.

iMimic is available now in the App Store for free. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.1.3 or later. iMimic is a universal app so it will also work correctly on the iPad.
