Happy Feet Two: Erik’s Adventure is an interactive storybook app from Warner Bros. Entertainment and developed by Budge Studios. Since the storybook is based on the upcoming movie Happy Feet Two, it follows the adventures of Mumble’s son, Erik. Like Mumble before him, Erik embarks on a journey to discover his place in the world. Along the way, you’ll have to save your fellow penguins from a threat that could possibly wipe out the entire colony. Like any good storybook app, Happy Feet Two: Erik’s Adventure includes narrated text, interactive games, and visually appealing artwork.

Because this is a storybook app, there are obviously moments when all you will do is watch what is going on onscreen. Unlike other storybook apps though, there aren’t really any pages. It’s more of an interactive, short movie that is narrated to you. Each scene in the story is fully animated and each has something to do, whether it be tapping on characters to take their picture or playing interactive games to progress the story. The games are fairly easy to play and mostly revolve around either tapping on the screen or to dragging your finger across it. The games themselves are fun for children, if not a bit easy, however this just means that your kids won’t get discouraged while going through it and giving up. This is the case with most Budge Studios games where the emphasis is progression and simplicity.

Happy Feet Two: Erik’s Adventure is a good storybook app for children who are fans of the Happy Feet movies. This is one of the better storybook apps as it features narration, animations, and interactivity. It’s also fairly long when compared to other storybooks. The only negative, and this is the case with all storybook apps, is that once you go through it a few times, you’re pretty much never really going to go through it again unless your kids are a huge fan of it. Some of the activities in this app are also very repetitive, but then again, kids don’t seem to mind the repetitive nature of these apps.
