DeliTape is a replacement music player for your iPhone/iPod Touch from developer Umbrella Software Development GmbH. You might ask yourself, why would I need a replacement music player when the iPod Music app works perfectly fine on my device? Well the answer to that is you don’t, but DeliTape is a fun, nostalgic way to listen to your music. Instead of the usual album art you see while playing your music, DeliTape instead takes you back to simpler days when cassette tapes ruled the streets. Your whole screen becomes a cassette tape and your device, a Walkman. The names of the songs playing are scribbled on the label like you would used to do on a mix tape and let me just say, the cassette tapes mimicked here look amazing and realistic.

DeliTape is a very simple player. It taps into your iTunes playlists and songs and you just choose what you want to listen too like you would with the default Music app. One you choose your song, it goes back to the DeliTape interface which consists of the cassette tape graphic and a little popup menu that appears at the bottom that has the rewind, play, and forward buttons. You can change the style of the cassette tape by either pressing the cassette tape icon on the menu or swiping the cassette left or right. There are 7 different designs to choose from, all of which are fully animated and move like a real cassette would while playing.

Overall, a very simple music app, but one that looks pretty good. I really like the whole retro feel of it and the simplicity of the controls. It’s not too fancy, but then again, neither were portable cassette players in the past.
