Oz v1.1.1 for iPad Review [TheGamerWithKits.com]

Oz, aka The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an interactive storybook app from Podotree that features the classic story by L. Frank Baum. The app features Podotree’s brand new decanter platform which I must say, is breathtaking. A little background on Decanter, this platform allows anyone to create and interactive pop-up book with very little coding or experience. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz app is meant as a technical example of this and I must say it looks wonderfully fantastic! I’m assuming most of you already know the story of Oz but maybe your children don’t yet. If you’re looking for an interactive storybook that will help introduce your children to this wonderful story, this might be just the app you want to check out. The main focus really of the Oz app is the fact that it is so beautifully done. It’s a graphical treat with pages that mimic the style of old storybooks and gorgeous illustrations that are highly animated and interactive. I must point out that the illustrations in this book are wonderful and really stand out among many of the other books I’ve played with. They are great and really fit the whole story of Oz perfectly. I also really like the fact that each page in the book is fully narrated with full audio effects as well, which accompany each illustration.

I’m not going to go into depth on the story as most of you should already know what it’s about. It’s pretty accurate though might not be as long as the original book. It’s only 79 pages, which is still the longest interactive storybook I’ve looked at on here, but does tell the entire story up to Dorothy’s return back to Kansas. I think for the price of the app, $1.99 for a limited time, it’s well worth it, especially if you have children who have never heard the story of Oz. It something that I think all children should hear at least once.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is available now in the App Store for $1.99. It is compatible with iPad.Requires iOS 4.0 or later.
