There is no shortage of unique cases available for the iPhone 4/4S and it would be possible to have a new case for everyday of the year without ever having to use the same one twice. However, I don’t know anyone who actually does that but I for one am the type to swap out my cases every few weeks or so depending on my mood. Because of this, I have built up quite the collection of iPhone cases that I rotate throughout the year. One of the newer cases I’ve received lately is the Q Card Case from CM4 that is an iPhone case + wallet combination. I’ve looked at other cases before with similar functions, but I’ve never really liked them due to their bulkiness and awkward styling. The Q Card Case is a bit different as it looks like a regular old iPhone Case but has a rather nice, slim wallet design integrated into the rear of the case.
The Q Card Case is made of a soft plastic like material that has a soft-touch feel to it. This gives the actual case itself a nice matte look to it. It is not a hard case so you don’t have to worry about dropping it and cracking the case. I prefer cases like this more than hard plastic cases as it seems to cushion the phone more from drops and has a bit of give to it and again, it won’t crack or break if dropped. I also like the fact that the case protects the front of the iPhone by overlapping the front a bit and keeps the screen from touching the surface when laid flat. It’s also a nice touch that CM4 saw fit to integrate buttons into the case which makes it a lot easier to press them with the case on. I’ve run into so many cases that only have cutouts for the buttons and it makes it incredibly difficult to press them sometimes.
On the rear of the case, you’ll find the wallet portion. It is made of a leather-like material that is also soft to the touch and has a nice texture to it. It is basically just 1 pocket so there’s only so much you can hold in it. At most, you’re able to hold maybe 2-3 cards and some cash. This isn’t really a problem as I see this case being more of a way to travel light if you won’t want to carry around your entire wallet of items to certain places, like out at a club or something. Even with these items tucked into the pocket, the Q Card Case stays relatively thin and isn’t much thicker than any other regular iPhone case.
There are a couple of issues with the case however. The matte soft-touch finish seems to get easily scratched and it doesn’t keep a nice even smooth look to it. Also, the wallet portion of the case is nice and all, but I have no idea really how it is held on to the actual case itself. It has the appearance of being stitched in but I have a feeling that it is just stuck on with some heavy duty adhesive. Because of this, I’m not entirely sure how long the Q Card Case will hold up over time. Despite these issues, the Q Card Case is one of the nicest wallet cases I’ve seen on the market and it does do exactly what it says it does and does it well.
