Awesome Upstanders! v1.0 Review for iOS []

Awesome Upstanders! is an anti-bullying game from HealthTeacher. The main purpose of the game is to teach kids how to proactively stand up to bullies who are picking on your friends. Instead of just standing around watching your friends get bullied, Awesome Upstander! teachers your kids to become involved and rally friends in order to stand up to bullies before they get a chance to cause any harm. Teach your children that they don’t need to be alone when standing up to bullies. A group of friends who stick together can stand up to any single bully.

The gameplay in Awesome Upstanders! is very easy to pick up. You have 2 arrows on the bottom left of the screen for moving left and right and a jump button on the right of the screen. It’s a simple platformer, which is fine since it’s not meant to be super difficult to play. The game is meant to serve as means of showing children that friends who stick together can stop bullies and Awesome Upstanders! does a good job of portraying that. It helps that the game is easy to play and gets its point across without frustrating players.

Awesome Upstander! is not only a fun game for kids, it’s also a game that promotes good behavior and helping out friends. However, don’t use this game as your sole means of talking to your child about bullies. You as parents need to sit down and talk to your children about bullies and how to stand up to them as well as also teaching them not to be bullies themselves.

Awesome Upstanders! is available now in the App Store for $0.99. It is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

Don’t just stand there, be an UPSTANDER! The bully is at it again. Use the power of your friends to STOP the bully before it’s too late!

Race through cafeterias and bathrooms to rescue a target from the bully. Collect bananas, air fresheners, and rolls of toilet paper to up your score, but hurry! Time is ticking, and you have to find and collect enough friends to stand up to the bully together.

“This game is perfectly placed in terms of the child’s social and emotional development. It teaches kids, in a meaningful way, how to make a difference. This is the first game that reinforces pro-social behavior in an age-appropriate way.”
