Tito’s Shell is a brand new physics based puzzle game from 99Games. When I first saw this game a week ago, I thought it was a children’s game but after playing it, I can say that it really isn’t. It is a deep physics puzzler which requires a lot of skill and quick thinking. It may look like a kids game at first but older and kids and adults will find this to be a super challenging and satisfying puzzler. The story of Tito’s shell is as follows, Tito is an absent minded turtle who is always misplacing his shell. Help reunite Tito with his shell in 45 fun filled levels.

I’ll start off by talking about the graphics as that can usually make or break a game regardless of how great the mechanics are. In the case of Tito’s Shell, it’s actually quite good for the type of game it is and certainly won’t detract you from playing it. On top of the graphics, the audio in the game is quite good as well with lots of unique sound effects as well as pleasant sounding background music. Overall, a very good visual and audio package.

Now on to the gameplay, Tito’s Shell plays a lot like other physics based games in which the goal is to get Tito’s shell to Tito. You do this by different means such as attaching the shell to swing points or having other objects hit the shell so it will roll a certain way. Different items have different physical rules. As you play, the game will explain what each new item can do and how to use them. For the most part though, if you’ve played games like Cut the Rope, Where’s My Water?, and Disney Fish Hooks, you’ll know pretty much what to do in Tito’s Shell.

Tito’s Shell is a fun physics puzzler. There is enough challenge there to keep things interesting and though it is similar to other games out there, it is still unique enough to stand out. There are only 45 levels in the game however which can seem a bit short, especially if you are really good at these type of games, but hopefully they’ll add more levels as time progresses. I’d say though that if you like these type of games, Tito’s Shell is definitely worth checking out.

Tito’s Shell is available now in the App Store for $0.99. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.
