Bottle Cap Blitz is the newest game from quirky game developer, Big Pixel Studios. In the past, many of their previous games stood out because of their signature, blocky art style and unique gameplay. Bottle Cap Blitz is the first game from them that takes a slightly different approach graphically but still offers up something really unique for players to enjoy. This is a “blitz” style game so players will have 1-minute to destroy as many ice cubes as they can using nothing more than a bottle cap. This is a true casual game and one that you can pick up and play whenever and wherever you want for as long or short as you want.

The main difference between Bottle cap Blitz and Big Pixel Studios’ other games is in its art style. This game takes a more realistic approach with the background being that of a sunny beach in a tropical paradise and your main game hub is that of a tiki bar. Both look very realistic as does the modeling of your hand and that of the bottle caps and ice cubes. The only thing not ultra realistic is that of the tiki bar owner which is more cartoony than realistic, but you only see him when you level up. Overall though, a very nice presentation and I’m glad to see them trying something new.

On the gameplay side of things, the game couldn’t be any funner. It has a bit of a Fruit Ninja type appeal to it where basically, you are destroying as many objects as you can in a short period of time. In this case, you’re breaking ice cubes with bottle caps instead of swords. Tap on the screen and you will flick a bottle cap in that direction. Ice cubes will fly on to the screen from any direction so you’ll have to be quick. Break more than one ice cube to form a combo and string combos together to increase your score multiplier.

Of course you can’t do this all at the start though. You have to level up by playing and the more you level up, the more bonus items you’ll unlock that will help increase your score. You’ll unlock the ability to string combos together, fruits that enable power ups, and bonus score multipliers depending on your level. You’ll even be able to unlock pre-game boosts similar to what you get in other blitz style games.

In the end, all of this is combined to form one really enjoyable game. Bottle Cap Blitz is one of the most fun games I’ve played in a while not to mention one of the most addicting. Like most blitz games, it’s hard to put it down once you’ve started as you are desperately trying to out do yourself each time and when you don’t, you just can’t help but to go another round and try again.
