Monster’s, Inc. Run for iOS Review

monstersrun_iconIf you’re a fan of Disney’s Monster’s, Inc., you may want to check out the latest game featuring your favorite dynamic duo, Mike and Skully. Monster’s, Inc. Run is a side scrolling platformer game that has you running from Point A to Point B. There are different ways you can go through a level but each ends up at the same goal. Make it to the end, and you’ll move on to the next level. Basically the goal is to go through all 64 levels in order to rescue Boo. If you don’t want to play the levels, you can opt for the familiar endless game which turns the game into an endless runner where you try to beat your highest score.

Let’s start this off by saying that the graphics are absolutely gorgeous. I would expect nothing less from a Disney/Pixar property game and Monster’s, Inc. Run doesn’t disappoint. Level designs are awesome with 3 different layers that move independently of each other and everything is very colorful and vibrant. Character designs are also spot on, looking very good in 2D.

Gameplay wise, it’s a simple one tap control scheme so you can basically play this one handed if you wanted to. It pretty much plays like an endless runner no matter what mode you are playing with you avoiding obstacles and enemies in order to get to the end. There are coins scattered about the level you can collect as well as power ups to help you along the way. As you play, you’ll also level up and unlock more gadget upgrades to use to help you along the way as well as new teams to play as. If you want, you can also quickly unlock them using coins and or buy them with in-app purchases.

Overall, Monster’s, Inc. Run is an enjoyable take on the endless runner genre. I like the fact that it isn’t just an endless runner and that you an also play through different levels. This basically gives you a reason to play apart from just trying to get the farthest on endless mode. Kids should like this game just because it features a lot of the monsters from Monster’s, Inc and it’s actually pretty fun too.
