I happened upon this game in the App Store by accident during my usual daily searches for app deals. It caught my eye because of how similar it was to another game I had played before on the PS3, Joe Danger. This game is called Max Awesome and features a motorcycle stunt man who must complete 60 challenging courses. Sound a bit familiar? I don’t know if this is a homage to Joe Danger or just a clone, but it borrows a lot from Joe Danger, which also happens to be in the App Store. Now when I say borrowed, I mean that if you didn’t see me tap on the icon and you were just looking at my game screen, you’d think that this was in fact Joe Danger I as playing. Graphically its very similar with the bright colors, the course layouts, and even the positioning of the camera.

Gameplay is also quite similar with you just trying to get to the finish line while trying to complete dish out as many tricks as you can to boost your score. Controls are easy to use. It uses a virtual controller on screen that just consists of a forward and back button on the right and on the left, you get a lean backwards and forwards button as well as a combined duck/jump button.

Despite the similarities to Joe Danger, Max Awesome is actually not that bad of a game. It’s actually quite enjoyable to play and can be quite fun. It may be a clone, but it’s a good clone. The game however doesn’t seem quite as deep as Joe Danger but if you’ve never played Joe Danger to begin with, you wouldn’t know. I would suggest checking out this game though since it’s free for a limited time and if you like it, go check out Joe Danger too.
