Adagio: The Musical Touch for Kids [iOS Review]

adagio_kids_iconFrom my experience, kids love music games. Whether they genuinely want to learn how to play song or if they just want to bash away at the keys, there’s something about them that keeps them coming back for more. So if you want something that keeps them occupied, music apps and games are usually a good choice to keep around. With that said, one of the latest music apps to hit the App Store is Adagio: The Musical Touch for Kids by Cangrejo Ideas. It is a music app that teaches kids some popular kids’ songs using a much different kind of piano layout than what you might be accustomed to. It uses a 7-note scale presented in as heptagon.

Adagio presents music in a fun and interesting way that children can understand. The musical keys appear on the outside of the heptagon with each side representing a musical note. Each note is represented by a color, it’s own unique animal, as well as the note they represent. You can either have it set to show as A-B-C or Do-Re-Me style. You also have a choice of having it output as a piano or xylophones as well as the choice of making the animals make sounds or not.

There are two main modes in the game. Songbook mode and Free Style mode. In Songbook mode, this is where children will learn how to play songs. There are 10 songs to choose from. Pick a song to begin. In the middle of the heptagon, a song train will appear. Each car represents a note they will need to play correctly. They can either follow by note or color represented. As they play, the train will continue moving until the end of the song is completed. When completed, they get a gleeful cheer from all the animals letting them know what a great job they did. In Free Style mode, kids can just play whatever they want.

Overall, Adagio: The Musical Touch for Kids is a wonderfully fun music app. It has a really great presentation that makes learning songs fun and easy. It’s made for young children and does a great job with making it accessible to them. It has large keys, cute animal characters, and the song train gives it a really nice graphical element instead of just flashing notes and letters. All-in-all, a very fun musical app for kids that they will enjoy.
