Looking for an educational app that can teach your child some basic Spanish while still being fun and interactive? Why not give Gus on the Go: Spanish a try? Gus on the Go is a series of language learning apps for children and this one as you can tell by the name is for learning Spanish. In this app, children will be interacting with Gus as he travels to Mexico and explorers what the country has to offer.
Let’s start with how the game is laid out. For starters, the entire game is in Spanish. I don’t think I saw any English in it at all. That’s not bad at all though because it forces children to understand what is what in Spanish. You learn from doing, that’s what I say. Children will be visiting Mexico here. They choose a town they want to go to first, although none of the towns are labeled so it’s really just some random town that could be anything. Each town has a series of activities they can participate in. Most are locked, but they they will become unlocked as your progress through the game.
The game will take children on a series of activities that will teach them simple Spanish vocabulary about animals, foods, clothing, and more. Some activities will have children tapping on objects and having the narrator speak back what they are in Spanish. After which, they can enter quiz mode where the narrator speaks out a term and they have to pick between 4 choices what the correct answer is. If you get this part of the activity correct, it will open up two more levels for them to play on. Usually this opens up another activity based on the words they just learned and a brand new activity with new words.
Gus on the the Go: Spanish has a ton of activities kids can play through. What I like about it is that it teaches through example and for the plain fact that the entire app is in Spanish. There is a lot of repetition involved which helps kids learn but the app keeps things fun in order to keep them interested. Overall, a very good language learning app for children. If you need them to learn other languages, Gus on the Go also comes in German, Mandarin and French flavors.
