Socialblend – Photos and Videos From Your Social Networks In One App [iOS Review]

socialblend_iconFor those who use social networks but only use them to view media, it can be a bit annoying wading through all the text that accompanies sites like Facebook and Twitter. Well, for those who only want to view images and video, there’s now an app you can use to view just that and it’s called, Socialblend. Socialblend allows you to view both photos and video in one handy app from Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube. That means no more having to use separate apps for all this. Socialblend will deliver all the media you want from your favorite sites while filtering out all the unnecessary noise.

You start Socialblend by entering your account info for your social networks, mainly Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or Youtube. Photos and video will soon populate Socialblends timeline with whatever caption accompanied the photo. With sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube, you’ll be able to “like” these as well as comment and view comments on them. With Twitter, you are not able to and can only look at the photos or video. Because of the nature in which Twitter works, that’s understandable.

All the photos and videos are presented to you in a timeline not dissimilar from that of Instagram. You can view all your social networks as one unified timeline for filter them out per network. It’s up to you how you want to view them. Again, this app is mainly foro viewing content and occasionally commenting or liking them. You can not upload anything with this app.

Socialblend is a neat app. I’ve seen other apps in the past that tried to create a unified place for all things social but in the end, it just became information overload. With Socialblend, I like how they are concentrating on just one aspect of being social which is interacting with photos and video. It lets you view just those items in a unified timeline similar to like what you’d see on an Instagram timelime, but coming from four sites instead of one. I know there are people out there who don’t use sites like Twitter and Facebook often because there is just too much noise on there. They just want to look at photos and videos and that’s fine. Socialblend lets them do that.
