Endless runners are a dime a dozen in the App Store. What that means though is that it’s a hugely popular gaming genre for mobile users and one that consistently makes the top 10 in the charts. Some of the most popular iOS games in the past have been endless runners so it’s no surprise when more get released. The trick though is to make and endless runner that stands out and does something really different that catches your attention. One such game is Giant Boulder of Death which just recently came out from PikPok and Adult Swim. If you’ve played any of their previous games, you know that they they are usually really quirky, creative, and fun. Giant Boulder of Death is no different. The game has you playing as a giant boulder on a path to destruction, literally rolling down a mountain and flattening anything in your path.

If you’ve played other Adult Swim games before, then you know how weird the games can get. This one has your bowling over mountain folk, cows, buildings, trees, and more while also collecting coins to spend on upgrades and trying to obtain the highest score you can. Not only will you be trying to get the highest score, you’ll also be trying to complete little mini goals which unlock secrets and additions to the game.

The game is easy enough to control. Tilt the screen left or right to move the boulder in that direction and tap on the screen to make the boulder jump. You’ll need to avoid obstacles like spiked walls and mines or else that will end your run.

Graphically, Giant Boulder of Death is a real treat. Everything has a blocky look to it with lots of flat textures, but it gives the game a very unique look. Again, this is another Adult Swim game that doesn’t disappoint in this area. The soundtrack and audio effects are also top notch and only add to the quirkiness of the game.

Overall, Giant Boulder of Death is a fantastic endless runner type game. I’ve played a lot of these types of games before and this one really stands out, thanks in part to how weird it is and also because it really is a fun game to play. Don’t worry about in-app purchases because you don’t need them to enjoy the game and most people will be quite pleased just playing it as is. Since it’s free, I highly suggest picking this game up, and even if it wasn’t, it is still a wonderful game.
