Battlefield 4 Tablet Commander – Play Battlefield 4 Away From Your Console (iOS App Review)

battlefieldcommander_iconI’ve been playing Battlefield 4 a lot on the PlayStation 4 and despite all the bugs and stability issues, I still having a lot of fun playing the game with my friends. The problem is that I can’t really play it for long periods of time and only have a couple hours a day I can play. That means I don’t rank up as quickly as those who can play much longer. Thankfully, there is the Battlefield 4 Tablet Commander app. This app allows you to play as the Commander without ever even needing to turn on your console and lets you gain xp whenever you want. It’s like playing in the real game, but not.

I’ll try to keep this short but basically, the Commander app allows you to just play as the commander on the battlefield. You get a top down view of the entire map and can pretty much see everything that goes on during a match. It’s your job to manage your troops by telling them where to go, what points to capture and how to back them up with various drones and drops. You can place UAV drones to show where enemies are, EMP drones to hide your troops, promote squads, drop supplies and vehicles, and even launch gunships and cruise missiles. What’s great is that you can do all this from anywhere and not just in front of your TV.

For Battlefield 4 fans, that means being able to gain XP and rank up while at work during break, waiting around at an appointment, or even right before bed for a quick match. This way, you aren’t confined to your console and can keep up with others while not really doing much. What is neat is that you can actually hear players who have their mics on and it’s also possible for you to relay orders back using the VOIP option.

I do encourage Battlefield 4 fans and players to download the BF4 Tablet Commander app. It only works on the iPad or Android tablets which is understandable as the iPhone would just be too small to play on. The game does crash every now and then too, but when it works, it works well.
