One of the hardest things some parents face when raising a young child is how do we get them to sleep through the night as well as how do we keep them from waking up at 5am in the morning. Eventually they learn but now there’s an app called Sleepasaurus that tries to train children how to keep a steady sleep schedule and a proper wake up time so everyone else (the parents) can sleep a little longer.
Sleepasaurus is basically a sleep companion for your kids. They’ll be able to choose between 7 different dinosaurs that will be able to keep them company while they sleep. Each one is hand drawn and fully animated and even have their own sounds when tapped on. Before bed, kids can pull down the magic sleep bag and sprinkle sleeping powder on their dinos. This signals that it is time to go to bed. The background of the environment will turn into night time and if you have the sleep music turned on, it will play a lullaby for a set amount of time. The hope is that if their friend is sleeping, they’ll want to go to sleep to.
The next morning, the dino will not wake up until it is time to wake up. This is a time that you set beforehand in the settings. When it’s time to wake up, the dino will awake, the background will change to daytime, and if set, and alarm will sound. It signals when your child will be able to get out of their bed or when they should wake up.
Both of this of course is to try and get your child into a familiar pattern and routine so that they learn to go to bed at around the same time each night and wake up at at the same time each morning. I’m not entirely sure if the Sleepasaurus app will work for your child but it does seem like a very interesting concept. Repetition does seem to work with children though when it comes to training so who knows, Sleepasaurus might be the perfect app for those with children who can’t seem to sleep on a proper schedule. As a bonus, the app can also function as a night light if you have your device plugged in to a power source while the app is on.
