Smash Hit Review – Fact: Breaking Glass is Super Fun (iOS)

smashhit_iconIf you want to know what the most popular games are in the App Store right now, all you need to do is check out the Top Charts . A quick scan of them right now show that this game, Smash Hit, is the #1 free game and that’s a good thing. It means that people are finally tired of all the Flappy Bird clones and we can finally move on and push all those type of games out of the top spots. Smash Hit is kind of like an endless runner type game where all you do is take these metal balls and break glass objects with them as you move along on “rails.” The main object of course is to see how far you can get with the limited number of balls you have.

For starters, the game is super easy to play but also quite challenging as you get further along. You start off with a limited number of metal balls and must use them to break glass barriers that get in your way as you move forward as well as other glass objects that give you bonus balls. The balls throwing is physics based so you’ll want to adjust your aim for gravity. What’s cool is that the game allows for multi-touch so you can throw more than one ball at a time in different directions allowing you to break more than one object at a time.

Graphically, the game is excellent. It’s one of the best looking games out right now of this type and certainly one of the best looking games on the charts. It features full 3D graphics with great use of lighting and shadows as well as transparency effects for all the glass. I”m sure that once you see the game in action, you’ll probably agree. Audio wise, the game sounds great as well. It has a good soundtrack that keeps the action moving along but also has a bit of a calming effect to it.

Overall, if you’re a casual game lover and want something new to help pass the time, Smash Hit is the game for you. It’s fun, easy to pick up and play, and can be quite challenging for those who are up for it. It certainly is one of those addictive type games though where you just want to keep playing to get farther and farther but unlike some other games, this one actually requires real skill.
