Lat28 Design’s Lightning Rabbit Charge Cable Review

I find it funny that as much as we love our electronics, there is one thing that seems to be always neglected, and that’s the charging/sync cable. We take these things for granted as we probably have piles of them stashed away somewhere from all the gadgets we’ve bought over the years. These cables are usually very generic and very cheap so we never really think twice about the quality them. We just use what’s handy and that’s usually an inexpensive and very short charging cable. Most are only around 3-feet long which is barely long enough for you to use your device while it’s charging.

That brings me Lat28’s new Lightning Rabbit charging cables. These are premium charging/sync cables that feature fabric braided lines and aluminum capped tips. Not only that, these cables are a full 5-feet long.

For this review, Lat28 Designs was kind enough to send me 3 of their Lightning Rabbit cables, one microUSB, one 30-pin, and one Lightning.

Seeing that these are just cables, I won’t get too long winded in this review and will try to get right to the point.

lightning002_grandeThese Lightning Rabbit cables are very premium and feel very high end. One of the first things you’ll notice about them is the braided line. These aren’t generic plastic style lines that degrade over time. These are fabric braided lines that are built to last and take abuse. Not only do they serve a functional purpose, they also look fantastic. You can even get them in a variety of different colors to show off your own individual sense of style. What’s great about that is that you’ll be able to distinguish your cable from everyone else’s generic ones.

The next thing you’ll notice about the Lightning Rabbit are the aluminum tipped ends. These are silver tipped ends that match the color of most Apple products. The size of the housings are not overly large and about the same size as those that come with your devices. That means you should be able to use these normally an with cases on.

Of course like I stated above, the thing I like the most about these cables are that they are long. I’m able to use my device in bed while having it plugged in without having to hang myself over the edge just to use it while charging. That’s the biggest plus for me and the reason I’ve now switched to the Lightning Rabbit for my device charging at night.

The Lightning Rabbit can be purchased in 3 different types, USB-to-Lightning, USB-to-microUSB, and USB-to-30pin. You an also choose between 3 different colors for each, classy silver, blazing orange, or royal purple. Pricing is decent too at $15 per cable or $20 for the Lightning Connector version. For those with iPhone 5/5S, you’ll be happy to know that these cables work fine without any weird connection errors that you sometimes get with 3rd party cables.

Overall, the Lat28 Design’s Lightning Rabbit cables are an excellent buy. They are super well made with quality materials and construction and are extra long for more versatile usage. You can pick up your very own Lightning Cables here on their official site.
