NERF Hoops Review on iOS

nerfhoops_iconIf you own and iPhone, you’ve probably played Paper Toss at least once. It was a very popular game a few years back and there are those who still play it. It was a game that really showed off what you would do with touchscreen based gaming. This year, Backflip Studios took that same game and applied a fresh new coat of paint on it with a licensing deal with NERF and created, NERF Hoops. This is basically Paper Toss, but with a NERF basketball theme.

If you’re looking for something different than Paper Toss, you’re not really going to find it here. For the most part, NERF Hoops is exactly the same game, just with different art and themes. Does that make it a bad game? Not at all. In fact, this is a very good game and a great time waster. Like Paper Toss, the goal is to shoot your little NERF foam basketball into the NERF hoop. You’ll have to contend with an air current that will blow your ball off course. You have to compensate for the air by shooting the ball either left or right of the hoop to make it curve and go in. The more balls you make in consecutively, the higher your score.

There are 4 levels of difficulty in this game, easy, medium, hard, and impossible. Each takes place in a different environment. Easy and medium are not difficult at all, but hard and impossible is crazy difficult. It’s very challenging at these distances and when you do make it in, it’s pretty satisfying.

Art wise, the graphics are fun with the environment being very alive with movement. The most fun level though has to be the “hard” level in which it takes place during a zombie apocalypse. It looks like a war zone with zombies walking around everywhere and instead of a NERF ball, you’re using a brain. There’s also plenty of fun sounds that accompany each level as well as quite a bit of taunting to get you hyped up.

Overall, this is a pretty fun game. If you’ve never played Paper Toss before, I suggest picking it up. Even if you have, it’s probably been a while since you’ve played it and picking it back up, I was surprised at how fun it still is. The gameplay is solid and the graphics are good. NERF Hoops is a game that the whole family can enjoy as well as players of any skill level.
