Not sure how many of you might remember this, but cell phones in the past used to come with a simple game called Snake. It was a game where you would control this snake like thing that had to gobble up little pellets. Each pellet eaten caused your snake to grow longer. The challenge came from trying to gobble up as many pellets as possible without ever touching another part of your snake’s body. This was a lot harder than it sounded, especially once your snake got super long. Timbo Snake 2 is pretty much exactly like that game, but with much better graphics, faster gameplay, and the addition of game boosters.
Timbo Snake 2 is actually a very simple game to pick up and play. It’s very similar to old school Snake where your snake only travels either horizontally or vertically. You turn by tapping the screen on either left/right or top/bottom. In this game, you have to collect apple. The more apples you eat, the longer your snake gets. Not only that, he also gets faster which ramps up the difficulty a bit. As the snake gets longer, you must try to avoid touching any other part of your snake or else it will be game over. The goal is to see how many apples you can eat while also trying to gain 3-stars per level.
Unlike other Snake games, this one has different levels to unlock. Each level is unlocked after completing a previous level with the difficulty getting progressively higher as you go.
The only real complaint I have about Timbo Snake 2 is the control scheme. By using 4 control points, the game is a lot harder to control than if it just had 2 points. The left/right points are supposed to be used when horizontal while the top/button ones are for when vertical. This however is quite hard to do depending on how you hold your device. In my opinion, it would have been much better just having left and right turn controls and just keeping it at that, simplifying things. Still, the game is playable with the current control scheme, it just takes some getting used to.
Overall, Timbo Snake 2 is a fun interpretation of the classic Snake game. The graphics are good, the gameplay is fast, and although the game has in-app purchases and ads, they don’t really get in the way of the game. As you progress, the levels get more challenging which is great as usually, that’s what you want from a game like this. You want a good challenge, not a game that spoon feeds you all the way.
