Block2Block Review on iOS – Like Tetris, but Not

Block2Block_iconOne of the very first video game puzzle games I ever played was Tetris back on the original NES. This was a game I spent hours on whenever I played it. Despite there being tons of Tetris clones that may have tried to improve on the formula, the original game is still one of my favorite. That doesn’t mean I don’t find different takes on the game fun. Take for example Block2Block by Web Terror which is kind of like Tetris, but also completely different from the classic game itself in how it plays.

Block2Block is very similar to Tetris in that you use blocks given to you to form lines in order to make them disappear. The main difference here is that blocks can be placed anywhere in the play area and lines can be made not only horizontally, but also vertically. Also, when matches are made and lines are removed, blocks don’t shift positions. They stay where they are until removed. Like Tetris though, you have to plan some of your actions several moves ahead otherwise you’ll find that you won’t be able to make any more moves. That means you really need to be aware of each move you make. That’s where the real challenge comes from in the game.

If you’re a fan of Tetris like games, Block2Block should garner some of your attention. It’s an interesting take on the whole Tetris genre and what they’ve done with it, it doesn’t feel like a clone at all. It feels like it’s own unique game and one that is both fun and challenging. The devs did a great job making this game different and it’s one I feel will appeal to all puzzle lovers young and old.
