Ever since the whole “Flappy Birds” movement, there have been a slew of games out there that have tried to capitalize on the whole, impossibly hard craze. By that, I mean games that seem to be easy, but in reality are quite difficult to play and even more difficult to put down. Some of these games are so bad though, but now and then, one comes along that is actually pretty good. Take for instance Jumping Bob. This game has you jumping a tiny monster from rooftop to rooftop, the goal of which is to see how many rooftops you can jump on before ultimately falling to your doom.
Like most of these games, Jumping Bob requires just one button to play. It’s a jump button, but one that requires you to hold it down depending on how much power you want to put into your jumps. The longer you hold it, the farther and higher you’ll jump.
The difficulty comes in that you really don’t know how far and how high your presses will cause your character to go at first. A lot of it is trial and error and it will take several tries before you figure out the proper amount of time needed for each press for the type of jump you need. Even then, you’re still kind of guessing.
Is the game fun? It’s not bad. Once you figure out the mechanics, you should be able to reach some pretty high scores. Sure it’s frustrating at the start but it’s honestly not that hard to figure out. Plus, there is an easy mode and a hard mode which I would really call beginner mode and advanced mode. Overall though, Jumping Bob is a decent game for those who like these type of games. It’s a casual game that you can just pick up and play and it’s also free to download.
