Big Buck Hunter Arcade – Gameplay Video and Initial Impressions | PS4

bigbuck_ps4

Big Buck Hunter Arcade brings the classic arcade shooter to PlayStation 4. The only difference here is that you’ll be using a standard controller instead of a dedicated “light gun” like in the arcade. And as far as I know, there isn’t a light gun accessory for the PS4.

This isn’t a full review of Big Buck Hunter Arcade, only some initial impressions based on a quick run through of the game in single player, standard mode. For starters, I think you’re going to want to adjust the sensitivity of your controller as trying to use a controller to aim your gun in this game is a lot harder than you think it would be. This game doesn’t work like a FPS game where the cursor stays in the middle. Instead you have to move it all around the screen and it makes things a lot more difficult.

If you take a look at my video below, you’ll see that even with aim assist on and reducing the sensitivity, it is still incredibly hard to hit a moving target. This game will require a ton of practice and a whole lot of patience to get good at.

On the plus side, the graphics are really good and it does a good job of bringing the excitement of the arcade version to your console, minus the actual gun accessory. I like the fact that most of the games come in quick little spurts, though load times could be a bit better. I’m hoping to try multiplayer soon which should be more fun and chaotic.
