Hot off the heels of their massively popular indie game, Prison Architect comes something new from developer Introversion Software. Scanner Sombre is their latest game and a departure from last game. In Scanner Sombe, players utilize a LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanner to aid navigation, players must make their way through a complex network of underground caves in complete darkness in an attempt to make it back to the surface. Your LIDAR scanner produces millions of individual light-points, painting a static, neon 3D image of the environments as you trek through the darkness. But not all is as it seems, and you might not be alone.
The trailer below shows a rather interesting game that requires a lot of exploration and thinking outside the box. While is is currently only being released on PC for now, I’m hoping it’ll make its way to console sometime in the near future.
Scanner Sombre will cost $11.99 and will launch with a 20 percent discount on Steam, GOG and the Humble store.
