ABZU | First 30 Minutes of Gameplay and Impressions | PS4

ABZU is a game I’ve been eager to play ever since I first saw it at last year’s E3. ABZU at its core is an exploration game, one in which we explore the Earth’s oceans. The experience is unlike anything you’ve probably played before and one that I highly suggest you should check out. Considering that ABZU is one of this month’s free PS Plus games, there’s no reason not to give this game a go.

ABZÛ is an epic descent into the depths of the sea, where players will explore beautifully rendered ocean environments with fluid swimming controls. The experience draws inspiration from the deep innate narrative that we all carry within our subconscious: the story of ABZÛ is a universal myth that resonates across cultures. The name references a concept from the oldest mythologies; it is the combination of the two ancient words AB, meaning ocean, and ZÛ, meaning to know. ABZÛ is the ocean of wisdom.

There really aren’t words to describe the game other than gorgeous and fantastic.ABZU is simply beautiful to look at and if you’re wearing headphones or have surround sound, a joy to just sit back and listen to the ocean and all the sounds around you. While there is a lot of exploration in the game and a lot to see and discover, it’s a truly calming experience that can make even the most crappiest of days melt away.

I’m currently just working my way through the different “levels” and so far really enjoy the entire game as a whole. I will sometimes stop however and take the time to look around and take in all that ABZU has to offer.

Again, ABZU is free this month for PS Plus members, but if you’re not a member, I highly suggest picking this game up.
