Based on Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster film, World War Z is an action packed co-op shooter where you get to mow down what seems like an endless amount of zombies. If you’ve seen the movie, you know that these zombies aren’t like those slow moving zombies you see in other films. These react to any little bit of noise and they come at you in huge swarms. That’s also what makes this particular game quite fun.
This isn’t going to be a full review because I haven’t had a chance to go through the entire game yet, but what I have played so far has been excellent.
I do want to get this one point out right at the beginning and that’s the fact that this game is very much like Valve’s Left 4 Dead series. There are many similarities between the two games and some would probably say that World War Z is a copy, but in my opinion, that’s not a bad thing really. The similarities that do exist are the fact that this is a 4-player co-op game, there are specialty zombies, lots of weapons to choose from, and a good amount of levels to play on.
What is different however makes World War Z a slightly better game. For starters, there are a whole lot more characters you’ll be able to choose from once you unlock them all. Also there are a lot more character classes to choose from. Not only that, there seems to be a lot more weapons and the ability to customize those weapons. Lastly, the action in this game just seems more hectic. There’s nothing quite as frightening as an entire horde of zombies rushing towards you at breakneck speeds and the only thing you can do is just hold down the trigger and pray your friends do the same.
With that said, I”m really enjoying World War Z. You can choose to go solo with NPC buddies or go online and play with friends or randoms the game matchmakes you with. Either way, you’ll never really be alone when you play this. So, if you’re a fan of zombie games, World War Z is definitely the game to get right now. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Received game from developer and/or publisher for coverage purposes.
