Today on Sony’s own PlayStation.Blog, they previewed the new DualSense Wireless Controller that will ship with the upcoming PlayStation 5. This seems to be an evolution of the DualShock 4 controller with added functionality.
The new DualSense controller is designed to heighten the feeling of immersion by incorporating haptic feedback, which adds a variety of powerful sensations you’ll feel when you play. It’ll do this with new adaptive triggers and actuators and a refinement of the design to fit all this new tech into a controller that feels smaller than it actually is. There’s also no more share button and instead will be replaced wit ha “Create” button. Lastly there will be a new integrated mic that will make chatting easier and more instantaneous.
What’s interesting here is that the new DualSense will be the first PlayStation controller that ditches the traditional DualShock design that has been a design element of every PlayStation since the beginning. I think it looks pretty good but I’d like to eventually see it in other color combinations.
