Speck Presidio Grip Case for the LG V60 ThinQ 5G | Review

Speck Precidio Grip for LG V60

There is no denying that the LG V60 ThinQ 5G is a large phone. That fact is further exaggerated when using the LG Dual Screen cover case. While the Dual Screen case does add protection and productivity, it’s not something you want to be using everyday, especially when you don’t need it. That’s why I suggest picking up a case just for the LG V60 that you can swap to when you don’t need the Dual Screen and this will make carrying the phone in your pockets a lot less bulky. I went with the Speck Precidio Grip for my LG v60 case this time around due to its features set, which I’ll explain below.

The Speck Precidip Grip is a two later case that features a hard outer shell and a rubbery inner shell that Speck calls IMPACTIUM. The Impactium layer if you look on the inside of the case forms these little ridges and valleys that help with impact absorption. The hard outer shell on the other hand is meant to prevent hard objects from penetrating the case, suck as rocks, keys, etc. Then there’s the raised bezel on the front which helps protect the screen and keeps it raised when you place your phone face down. This is always an important aspect of any case you get.

The Speck Precidio Grip also has these raised, no-slip grips on the back of the case. These help tremendously by giving you a firmer grip on your phone and makes it so the LG V60 is a lot less slippery to hold. While it is grippy, it still slides in and out of your pockets just fine and doesn’t get caught up on your pants material.

Lastly, the case features Microban, an antimicrobial protection coating that apparently protects your case from bacteria. We all know just how dirty our phones can get so any little thing that keeps germs away is a plus in my book. Especially right now with this whole COVID-19 outbreak we’re seeing.

With that said, based on my time with the Speck Precidio Grip on the LG V60, I’d say it’s a pretty good case. It fits very snug and tight and keeps most of the important bits covered and protected, including all the buttons. I also have no issues with the charging plug hole which is generously sized and should accommodate most charging plugs. This case is also compatible with wireless chargers.

The only thing that I don’t quite like about the case is the choice in colors. There’s only one choice and that dark grey with light grey accents. It’s a very neutral color and not very exciting. I would have preferred something that is a bit more complimentary of the LG V60’s natural blue and gold colors, but since there’s a surprising lack of cases for this device, I’ll take what I can get especially if it provides as much protection as the Speck Precidio Grip does.
