Whenever I get a new phone to look at, I always want to see how much bloat it comes with. These days, even unlocked phones that aren’t tied to any US carriers seem to come with some bloat. The difference is that usually with unlocked phones, you at least have the option of uninstalling them. The Sony Xperia 1 II however doesn’t allow for this. Despite this being an unlocked device, it will not let you uninstall some of these apps.

Here’s a list of the third-party apps I saw after the initial phone setup:

• Facebook (disabled)
• Netflix (disabled)
• LinkedIn (disabled)
• Call of Duty Mobile (disabled)
• Tidal (disabled)
• Amazon (optional)
• Booking.com (optional)
• AccuWeather (optional)

You can only disable some of these apps if you choose to do so. Luckily, there isn’t that many of them. Still, it’s kind of strange that they can’t be uninstalled unless of course, they have some kind of marketing deal set up with them. That’s the only explanation I can think of.

The rest of what’s on here is a handful of Sony apps and several Google apps.
