With the popularity of services like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, shooting video is even more popular now than ever. While most good cameras these days have built-in OIS (optical image stabilizer) which helps stabilize videos, it usually not enough if you do a lot of movements. You’ll almost always notice the “shakes” no matter how good the OIS is. That’s why if you’re serious about video, you should invest in a good gimbal. A gimbal helps further stabilize your camera, allowing for fluid, smooth footage while in motion. While there are lots of different gimbals out there, we’ll be looking FeiyuTech’s latest, the FeiyuTech AK2000C. The FeiyuTech AK2000C is a fully motorized, 3-axis gimbal with a built-in OLED touchscreen for ease of use.

DESIGN
The FeiyuTech AK2000C is considered small and light for its category. When in “storage” mode, the AK2000C is about as tall and wide as a sheet of A4 paper and weighs 1078g. The lightness comes from the fact that much of it is made from aviation grade aluminum alloy, though that does not hinder the type of camera it can accommodate. It is able to handle a weight of 2.2kg which should allow for a variety of different camera and lens setups.
Much of the body is anodized black which gives it a stealthy look, though the handles on the version we have here has a rosewood patterned handle, but you can pick it up with a carbon fiber pattern or navy camouflage. The wooden handle on this does break up the sea of black and adds a bit of style to an otherwise mute color scheme.
Littered throughout the body are reminders that this is a FeiyuTech product as there are logos and model numbers displayed all around it.
When you want to store the AK2000C or want to only lock certain parts of the arms, there are motor locks that can hold the arms in place. This allows for flexibility if you don’t need all the arms to move and also makes storage much more secure.
A major features of the AK2000C is the touchscreen interface. It’s a 3-inch LED touchscreen that provides all the necessary operational features without the need for a phone app. Everything you need is built-in which makes operating the AK20-00C so much easier.

Lastly, the AK2000C can accommodate accessories. A folding tripod comes with the base AK2000C set and can be attached to the bottom of the gimbal. It can act as both a tripod or extended handle. You can even move the handle to the side of the gimbal as a horizontal handle. Other optional accessories you can pick up are a portrait expansion plate, monopod, an actual versatile handle, a wireless mic, multi-functional bracket, and an extension bar.

EXPERIENCE
The FeiyuTech AK2000C is fairly easy to set up as long as you follow the instructions. The first thing you will need to do is balance the camera you are using with the gimbal. You’ll have to do this each time you swap out cameras, but if you use the same camera each time, just remember what the settings are that you used and you should be good. The AK2000C makes it easy to remember settings because there are numbered measurements on each adjustment arm for more precise balancing.
Once balanced, just turn the AK2000C on and the built-in motors will begin balancing everything on its own. Controlling the gimbal is just as simple as everything you need is on the face – a small joystick, buttons, and a touchscreen. There is a trigger on the AK2000C as well, but you’ll need to attach a cable to the gimbal and camera for it to work correctly. My camera doesn’t have the ability for remote trigger so I couldn’t test this out.
When in use, the gimbal seems very solid and firm. The AK2000C itself isn’t really heavy, but the camera you use could add some weight to it so I suggest using both hands to handle it. It helps if you use the tripod attachment to lengthen the handle or attach it to the side as a t-handle. Either way, it makes handling the AK2000C much easier and stable.
As you can see from the sample video., the AK2000C goes a long way towards making your videos very steady, especially when in motion. That’s much better than shaky video and give your videos a much more professional look. It’s also much better than post-processing a video to reduce shake. All-in-all, definitely worth it.

FINAL THOUGHTS
If you’re serious about photography and video, you need to pick yourself up a gimbal. A gimbal will 100% make your videos look so much better than just holding a camera in your hands and a motorized one like the FeiyuTech AK2000C is a great choice. It has a lot of really advanced features and the built-in touchscreen makes operations a breeze. It’s also simple to use once you dial down all the settings and measurements.
There really isn’t anything negative I can say about the FeiyuTech AK2000C and this should work with a wide variety of DSLR and mirrorless cameras. The universal base makes it easy and the array of accessories you can get to expand the functionality of the AK2000C is a big plus. With that said, the FeiyuTech AK2000C is a very good buy for anyone out there looking for a solid, well-designed gimbal to up their game.
