Amazfit Bip U Pro is Worth the Extra $10 | Review

Amazfit Bip U Pro

The Amazfit Bip series has always been the affordable fitness smartwatch in their lineup. While these watches have been pretty good for the price, Amazfit is never satisfied with what they have and is always releasing new product, even if their latest only just came out a month or two ago. That’s the story with the Amazfit Bip U Pro. While the Amazfit Bip U was only released last month, this new Amazfit Bip U Pro is better but $10 more and I’ll explain why.

For starters, I’d suggest reading the original review for the Amazfit Bip U as it will give you a general idea of how the Amazfit Bip U Pro is. Much of it is the same with a couple of new additions.

Amazfit Bip U (Left) and Amazfit Bip U Pro (Right)

Design-wise, you’d be hard-pressed to find any differences in look between the Amazfit Bip U and the Amazfit Bip U Pro as they look exactly the same. The body is the same, the 1.43″ color display is the same, and the straps are the same. If you liked the look of the Amazfit Bip U, you’re going to like the look of the Amazfit Bip U Pro.

Now while the exterior is the same, it’s the inside that’s changed. Let’s detail what’s the same first. The watch is still 31g and water-resistant up to 50m. Both watches also features the upgraded biological optical tracking sensor, BioTracker 2, which supports the measurement of blood-oxygen saturation, 24-hour heart rate monitoring, and sleep monitoring. There are 60+ sports modes the Amazfit Bip U Pro can track as well. For women, you also get the addition of a menstrual cycle tracker.

Software is also the same here for the most part with all data measurements synced up with the Zepp app.

That’s pretty much it with what’s the same. What is different in the Amazfit Bip U Pro is what makes it $10 more and makes it a better buy in my opinion over the regular Amazfit Bip U. Basically you’re getting the addition of built-in GPS which will help greatly with activity monitoring. This will allow you to track runs and other activities much more accurately as well as where you go on these activities. You also get the addition of Amazon Alexa built-in, allowing you to ask questions, get translations, set alarms and timers, check the weather, control your smart home devices and more.

The addition of Alexa makes the Amazfit Bip U Pro a little bit more “smart” in addition to the basic smartwatch options you get such as smartphone notifications, Pomodoro Clock, music controls, alarms, weather, etc.

Like the original Amazfit Bip U, the Amazfit Bip U Pro also gets around 9-days of usage per charge based on normal usage. Your results will vary however based on what you have enabled and the frequency of certain tracking settings.

FINAL THOUGHTS

While not much different than the Amazfit Bip U, the Amazfit Bip U Pro is the one you should be buying if you’re looking for an inexpensive fitness and health geared smartwatch. For $10 more, the addition of GPS alone is worth the extra price while the addition of Alexa is a bonus if you use it.

That’s not to say that the Amazfit Bip U isn’t worth it either as you will save some money if you don’t need the GPS, but if you want the complete set of features that the more expensive Amazfit watches have, you’re better off getting the new Amazfit Bip U Pro.
