Most new phones these days do not include an AUX jack for wired headphones. This is especially true of a lot of new model flagships. Take for example this year’s Samsung Galaxy S21 series. With the StarTech.com USB-C 3.5mm Audio and Charge Adapter, you can keep your wired headphones and also charge at the same time with a fairly inexpensive little add-on.
The StarTech.com USB-C 3.5mm Audio and Charge Adapter is basically just a little dongle that attaches to the USB-C port of your smartphone or any device really that doesn’t have an audio jack. For instance the new iPad, a laptop, etc. This little adapter adds an AUX jack as well as a USB-C 60W pass-through for charging or syncing. This is better than just a standard USB-C 3.5mm jack adapter because this at least lets you also charge at the same time where other adapters will not let you do that.
What’s nice about the StarTech.com unit too is the low profile body and solid build quality. A majority of the body is surrounded by aluminum which makes this thing extra durable. I also like the fact that the USB-C connection part has a riser on it that lets it work with many cases as well. Other than that, not much else to say about it as this is a fairly simple adapter that’s pretty straightforward.
With that said, the StarTech.com USB-C 3.5mm Audio and Charge Adapter is something you actually really need, mainly because a lot of devices these days no longer ship with an AUX jack. While there are other adapters like this one, the StarTech one is a solid unit with a solid build that does exactly what it says it does.
