Adonit Dash 4 | Review

Adonit Dash 4

This will be a fairly quick review for something that you’ll either really need or won’t need at all. Most smartphones these days don’t come with a stylus unless you own a Samsung Galaxy Note or some other brand phone that’s specifically made for one. Everyone else has to make do with a generic stylus with those squishy rubber tips. If you want something that’s a bit more pencil-like and accurate, check out the new Adonit Dash 4 stylus made for both iOS and Android. This one has a skinny plastic tip and an aluminum body that makes it a lightweight, precision alternative.

The Adonit Dash 4 is a very well-made stylus. As stated above, the body is made of aluminum while the tip is plastic. On what would be the eraser end on a pencil, there is a button that lights up either green or blue. Press it to switch modes. If it’s green, it means it will work for Android and iOS. If it’s blue, it will only work for the new iPad versions supporting palm rejection. For the most part, you’ll just keep it in the green. This end is also used for charging with the included charging dongle. Just plug the dongle into a USB-C port and place the Adonit Dash 4 on it. Simple.

In terms of accuracy, the Adonit Dash 4 is okay. Drawing straight lines vertically and horizontally seems fine, but drawing diagonally produces lines that look very wavy, at least when tested on my Galaxy S21 Ultra. It’s still fairly decent using it to jot down notes or sign documents, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best at maybe drawing an image.

So is the Adonit Dash 4 worth a purchase? Depends. If you absolutely need a stylus, then it’s an alright choice. The price is reasonable and for the most part, it’s accurate for handwriting. While it falters with diagonal lines, you won’t notice it for handwriting really. If you want a stylus for drawing, well then it might not be as accurate as you want it to be. So with that said, the Adonit Dash 4 is a very well-made stylus, it just has some small issues.
