TANUKI: Pon’s Summer Gets a November 10 Release Date

CRITICAL REFLEX and Kyoto developer Denkiworks have locked in a launch date for TANUKI: Pon’s Summer. Revealed during today’s Nintendo Indie World Showcase, the game arrives November 10 on Steam, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

You play Pon, a tanuki working part-time delivering mail while trying to get the Great Tanuki Shrine ready for its end-of-summer festival. That means hopping on a BMX, hauling letters and packages of all shapes and sizes around a colorful Japanese island, and finding the best route — or the best trick line — to get them there.

The island is built for messing around on two wheels, with ramps, rails, and more than 100 BMX challenges to chase down. Between deliveries, Pon can build friendships with the townsfolk by joining in on local activities like making sushi, playing baseball, and stepping into the sumo ring. The money and items you earn go toward building, upgrading, and decorating the shrine before the festival arrives.

Pon can also wear crossover hats inspired by games including Hollow Knight: Silksong, PEAK, and Shovel Knight.

Pre-orders are live now for $19.99 on Xbox and the Nintendo eShop, and Xbox Game Pass subscribers can download it on PC and consoles on November 10. Buying it on Nintendo Switch unlocks the Switch 2 version, and vice versa, at no extra charge. A Steam demo covering the first three days — about 2-3 hours — is also available, with save progress carrying over to the full game.
