TryCube 2.0 by Dexetra Software is a 3 dimensional puzzle game based on a Rubik’s Cube. The goal of the game is to twist and turn a Rubik’s cube until the pattern on it matches the pattern of the 2 dimensional picture shown. This might sound easy, but it really isn’t because it’s not just the face of the cube you have to match. See, the whole cube is transparent so the pattern must match all the way through the cube. That means when you look through the cube, the pattern has to match the 2 dimensional pattern. That adds a level of difficulty to the game.

TryCube 2.0 is a challenging game, but once you get used to everything, it really isn’t all that hard, especially if you know how a Rubik’s Cube works. You just need to pay attention to what patterns are on what side of the cube. It can be a little disorienting considering most puzzle games are only in 2 dimensions but TryCube 2.0 will really get your brain working.

The only thing I had a hard time with at the beginning were the controls and that’s only because I didn’t take the time to go through the tutorial like I should have. I figured I could just play the game but that wasn’t the case as you really need to learn the controls before playing TryCube 2.0. It’s not something you can figure out just by diving right into the game. Once you do learn the controls however, the game becomes much more enjoyable and fun.

Final Thoughts

TryCube 2.0 is a very challenging game since it forces you to think in 3 dimensions. This game can be confusing if you don’t take the time to go through the tutorial and that might turn off some players but once you take the time to learn the controls and how to play, it can be a fun and challenging game.
