TGWK’s Quick Rental Review – Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days (Xbox 360)

Warning: Rated M for mature. Lots of violence, blood, inappropriate language, and some nudity along with adult themes and very graphic nature. NOT FOR CHILDREN!

I’ve been using my Blockbuster account to play some of the much older games on the 360 lately and most of these games I have on my queue are games that I never really thought about buying but was curious to play. One such game was Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days from Eidos and Square Enix. I remember playing the demo of the original game, but wasn’t really too impressed with it to warrant me paying too much attention to the second game.

First off, wow. This is one violent game. There are many instances where you’ll have “WTF” moments and even with all the pixel blurring of the more gruesome parts, it’s still a pretty bloody, violent game. If you’re into non-stop action, this game never stops. One thing happens after another and the game never really gives you a chance to breath. The story itself isn’t too bad but it’s basically about Kane & Lynch having the most worst possible few day anyone could ever have.

Thank goodness I never bought this game though because it’s definitely rental only material. Here’s why. The game is incredibly short. If I had bought this game at the full price of $59.99 when it game out, I would have been very upset. I beat the game within 5-6 hours tops which in my opinion is way short.  That was for the single player mode. The only features that make the game a little bit more worthwhile is that it has multiplayer options, but good luck finding anyone to play this with.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days definitely isn’t for children as they drop the F-bomb throughout the entire game and the violence and themes are just so over the top that they aren’t appropriate for children. If you’re a parent, I’d wait until your kids are tucked safely away before popping this into your game system. I recommend never buying this game, but as a rental, it’s not a bad game to play if you don’t have anything else to do.
