City Traffic HD is a traffic sim from developers Blue Onion Soft. If you’ve played other traffic sim games, then you will already know the basic premise of City Traffic HD. In the game, you must manage traffic coming from all sides of the screen. Cars come from all directions and you have to keep them from crashing into each other. City Traffic HD is a bit different from some of other games though as you don’t need to worry about traffic signals. Instead, you control the cars themselves. This makes the game a bit more challenging and more hectic than normal.

Controls in the game are as simple as tapping and swiping. You tap cars to stop them from moving and you swipe cars to make them move faster. Depending on which direction the cars are coming from, you can pretty much get a rhythm going. Because they move on predetermined paths, you can gauge when you need to stop or speed up.

The game itself is simple and fun and is an overall good time waster. It’s also simple enough for children to play as my preschooler has no problem playing this game at all. In fact, he picked up the game rather quickly and was really into it once he got the hang of it. It’s also a pretty good game to keep your hand-eye coordination sharp as you really need to focus on the entire playing area at once.

City Traffic HD only has four levels at the moment, but the developer will be adding more in the next update which is always a plus in my book when developers continue to support their own games with updates.

City Traffic HD is available now in the App Store for $0.99. It is a universal app and compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.2 or later.
