Stan Lee’s Verticus is one of the first games I’ve see on iOS with Stan Lee’s name attached to it. Developed by Moonshark, Verticus is an endless falling game where players will take control of a superhero named Verticus who must free-fall into the Earth’s atmosphere and core in order to save our planet from an evil race known as the Obliterators. In typical Stan Lee fashion, he creates very memorable characters and stories thanks to his legendary experience creating some of the worlds most famous comicbook heroes and villains. Verticus does have that comicbook feel to it and it really helps set the whole mood of the game.

Gameplay wise, Verticus is very easy to jump into and play. In fact, it’s possible to play the game entirely one-handed if you wanted to with just your right thumb being used to move Verticus around the screen. Just try to avoid enemies and obstacles while collecting coins and orbs which you will use to upgrade your suit in order to gain an advantage over your foes. Ass you fall, you can also pass through green boosters in order to speed up your decent as well as multiply your points.

Now, this is an endless falling game, however you will eventually reach the Earth’s core. When that happens, you destroy the doomsday weapon, but you’ll be shot back into space and will have to do it all over again as there are actually many of them that need to be destroyed. If you die when playing, you do have the option of continuing the game as long as you have enough orbs, or you can just choose to start all over again from the beginning. The choice is yours.

There is quite a bit of replay value to Verticus as each time you play, you’ll want to get farther and farther as well as trying to increase your score. You’ll also be able to upgrade your suit so you’ll want to keep playing until you are full upgraded which can take a while to do. Overall, Verticus is a fun game and a very good take on the whole endless type gaming genre. It’s fast paced and definitely challenges your hand-eye coordination.
