Of course when I saw this zombie game in the app store, I had to give it a try since I’m a big zombie fan. It’s called Plight of the Zombie and it actually takes a different approach to the typical zombie killing genre and instead, sympathizes with the zombie. You start of with Craig the Zombie, but will have a chance to choose 2 other zombies as you progress through the game. Craig’s mission, just find some brains to feed his hungry stomach. Nothing wrong with that right? Help Craig find food while also fending off humans who stand in his way. This isn’t a hack and slash game however as this is more of a puzzle game that requires strategy and thought instead of mindless killing.
The game is a line drawing game where you’ll need to create a patch for your zombie to travel. He doesn’t know where to go on his own so you’ll have to tell him where to go. Guide him to the brains while also converting the humans you see along the way. If you can infect them before they kill you, they’ll become part of your army in that level that you can use to collect brains, infect others, or use them as bait. The level ends when all the humans have been dealt with so make sure you grab all the brains too before that happens. Why? Because brains are used as currency in the game and the you’ll be able to buy power-ups and accessories with them.
That brings me to customization which I’ll briefly mention. Brains can be used to buy accessories so you can dress your zombie up with a unique look. You can purchase hats, sunglasses, and other hand held accessories.
If you’re a zombie fan, get this game. If you’re a puzzle fan, get this game. Plight of the Zombie will appeal to many regardless of its theme. It’s a solid puzzler with lots of challenge and the 50+ levels will keep you occupied for a while. The developer even promises more levels will be on the way in the near future.
