If you’re a fan on DC Comics and their cast of super heroes and villains, you may want to give Injustice: Gods Among Us a look. This is based off the console game of the same name that will be released soon on Xbox, PS3, and WiiU. Unlike the console versions, this version of it is free-to-play however it plays a bit differently as well. It does feature an entire roster of characters to choose from, but will take some time to unlock them all.

In this game, you start off with 3 character cards. It’s randomly picked so different people will have a different starting roster. You start off with 3 because this is a tag team battle match which means you can swap between these 3 characters during a match. As you progress, you’ll be rewarded with more character cards that you can swap out with any of your original 3. This allows you to build the best team you can. Keep track of their stats however as each character levels up differently based on how much you play them. As you play, you’ll also be rewarded with special moves and abilities.

The neat thing about this game, though you aren’t really able to try it yet until the console game comes out is that you can unlock features of the console game by playing this and vice-versa.

Graphically, the game is really good. This is one of the better looking games on iOS and that’s not really a surprise considering it is built on the Unreal engine. Most games that use that look pretty good and Injustice: Gods Among Us is no different. Animations are fluid and it’s a graphically detailed game.

Gameplay wise, they’ve simplified the controls tremendously for mobile. Basically all you do is tap on the screen to punch and then an arrow will pop up that you need to swipe in the direction of to perform a knockdown. Use a 2 finger tap to block punches from your opponent. As you successfully land punches, you specials meter will fill up. When it does, tap on the specials icon to perform a devastating special move. If you want to swap characters, just tap on that character and they will swap places. As you can see, really simple to play.

Overall, Injustice: Gods Among Us is a pretty cool app, though it takes a very long time to unlock everything. You can use in-app purchasing to unlock items and characters quicker, but it’s really not that necessary. You can unlock all of it just by playing through it often enough. For any comic book fans out there, I suggest downloading, considering it’s free and it’s always fun playing as your favorite heroes or villains.
