Wombi Math – A Simple Way for Children to Practice Their Math [iOS Review]

wombi_math_iconWombi Math is the latest educational game from developer Wombi Apps. They are well known for their children’s apps  and we’ve looked at a few in the past which we liked. This latest app of theirs deals with math skills and allows children to recognize simple equations and their answers. It’s a simple app that makes them solve equations by presenting them with a wall filled with equations and answers. They need only match up each equation to the correct answer to get them right.

The app allows children to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They can choose to either concentrate in one area or all areas at once. Once they make their choice, they’ll be thrown in a screen that looks like a  brick wall with a bunch of numbers and equations jumbled together. It took me a minute to figure out what to do but all you need to do is tap on an equation and match it up with the answer by also tapping on the answer after. If correct, that pair will be removed from the wall. Solve another equation and that will also be removed. Keep going until there are no more equations or numbers on the wall. The bunny character at the bottom of the wall will cheer you on if you get the answer correct or make an angry, growling face if you get it wrong.

Graphically, the app isn’t bad. It’s pretty simple with a static wall with equations and answers placed inside different colored shapes. The only thing animated is the little bunny character at the bottom that talks and interacts with you a bit.

Overall, Wombi Math is a pretty decent math app. It’s a simple and easy way to practice basic equations so it’s good for those kids just learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Older children who have already learned these things will probably find the app a little boring, but again, I think it’s more for the younger kids just learning who need to practice daily.
