Veteran travelers know that if there’s one place you really want to go to rest up and make the best of an airport wait or layover, it’s the airport lounges. These hidden gems allows passengers to wait in style, offering them such amenities as free food, internet access, comfy chairs to sit in, television, and even hot showers. The question then is, how do you find these lounges and how do you get in? LoungeBuddy seeks to answer this question by allowing would-be travelers to view a list of every available lounge at major airports, where to find them, what each lounge includes, and how much it is to get in.
Using LoungeBuddy is as simple as just entering some information about your trip. You start by entering what airline you’ll be flying, the origin airport, and the destination airport. If it is not a nonstop flight, you can also enter which airports you’ll be connecting at in order to add it to the list of stops. From there, you can tap on each airport destination for a list of airport lounges available to you and how much they will cost at a glance. Tapping on each lounge will give you more detailed information about where they are located, what amenities they provide, and when they are open from. You can even rate lounges and leave feedback on the lounges you have been to.
What’s neat is that if you have elite status with your airline or have membership to specific lounges or any other way to access them, like a credit card with those benefits, you can add them in the settings. This allows the app to change some of the values in the lounge lists and show you which ones will be free to you.
For those on iOS7, you’ll be happy to note that LoungeBuddy has been updated to take advantage of the new look and feel of. With that said, it’s a good looking app that’s easy to navigate and use. The only downside to LoungeBuddy is that not every airport in the world is included in its database yet. That means that some of you may not be able to find certain airports. I’m sure in future updates, they’ll be adding more destinations.
Overall, I’d say LoungeBuddy is a great app for frequent flyers. Those who don’t fly too often may not find that app that useful to keep on their device full time, but for those who do, it’s a great app to keep around. As long as the information in it stays up to date and more airports get added, LoungeBuddy will be an app most flyers should not be without.
