DOOO To-do & Idea Note Manager (iOS App Review)

dooo_iconI don’t know what it is about iOS7, but ever since it’s come out, there have been a ton of to-do lists and note apps coming out of the woodwork.  Many of them are being featured now thanks to updating their look and feel to be more iOS7-ish. One such app is DOOO from Figtree Labs. DOOO differentiates itself from other to-do managers in that it does way more than just basic lists. DOOO allows you not only to make basic lists, but also allows you to add notes utilizing photos, voice recordings, drawings, and location data.

I’ll just briefly talk about the way DOOO looks first. Like most iOS7 apps, DOOO is very flat. Most of the app consists of shades of white, gray, and black with only splashes of color coming from the category icons. You can change the theme of the app, but only if you “Like” their Facebook page. What’s neat though is that you can actually adjust certain aspects of the app through the settings such as the font type used, font sizing, whether or not you want to use all caps for your notes, and whether or not you want the status bar to appear up top. All this makes for a pretty customizable experience.

DOOO also makes use of swiping to navigate the app and complete tasks. Unlike most to-do apps, this one has a user interface that is more vertical, meaning that your tasks, completed tasks, and unsolved tasks are displayed in columns, not rows. You swipe left and right to get to different columns as well as the categories section.

There are quite a few default categories you can choose from to make a list. There your standard DOOO category, Idea, Work, To Buy, Household, School, Travel, To Listen, To Read, and the ability to make custom categories. Once you select a category, you can begin adding items to your lists. You add items using the bottom bar and like I said earlier, you can add text, voice, photos, or a map location. This makes DOOO a very versatile app.

As you complete tasks, you can swipe on them o move them to the completed column. If you don’t complete the task in the given day, they get moved to the unsolved column. Both the today and unsolved columns are usually visible at the same time on screen.

Overall, DOOO is a good to-do manager with lots of extra features, mainly being able to take down different forms of notes and not just text. This makes it a bit more useful than just a regular to-do list. If you’re looking for an app than can seemingly do it all, DOOO is probably the one you’re looking for. I suggest checking it out considering it is free at the moment.
