This isn’t the first time I’ve looked at a jump-style game though this might be the first time I’ve looked at one that was featured as an iTunes Editor’s Choice. That’s probably why Mr Jump is so high in the charts as of this date, though I’m sure it helped too that the game is actually pretty good and addictive.
Jumping is performed via screen taps. You can control the height of your jump based on how long you tap the screen for. There is a lot of trial and error involved and most likely you’ll have to play a level over and over again before you reach the end. That’s fine though because it’s not frustrating like those other games that randomly generate levels. This game isn’t based on luck, it’s based on skill so if you’re good at memorizing stuff, you’ll be good at this game.
Graphically, the game looks fantastic too. Everything is bright and colorful with a visual style that is very flat but has a surprising amount of depth. It’s very angular with sharp lines and works very well for this type of game.
I can see why Mr Jump was featured as an Editor’s Choice on iTunes. It really is a fun game that you can actually get good at. I like the fact that it isn’t random and passing each level is totally doable if you put the time and effort in. There are only 12 levels included in the game though, but beating each will take some time. Overall, Mr Jump is a great free game that will appeal to people of all ages.
