Disney Crossy Road Review – Still Addicting | Mobile

disneycrossy_iconIt’s been a couple of years since I’ve played Crossy Road. This once addicting game used to occupy a lot of my time until more interesting games came along. I didn’t think I would ever play it again until they came out with a Disney themed version entitled: Disney Crossy Road. While the underlying game is pretty much the same, I had to check out the new Disney version because I have a little girl who loves Disney stuff and was told I had to absolutely download this.

Like the original game, Disney Crossy Road is a Frogger inspired game where the goal of it is to see how far you can go without being crushed by a car or drowned in a river. Tap the screen to move forward and swipe left or right to move in that direction. You have to make sure you are making an effort to move forward however because if you don’t, you’ll get gobbled up and die.

Aside from the new Disney theme, the new worlds and new characters you can collect, this is still the same exact game Crossy Roads was. If you loved that game, you’ll love this one and if you hated it, you’ll hate this one. The new Disney theme however appeals to more people and the ability to collect and use your favorite Disney characters is neat.

While the game is fun, collecting the coins needed to unlock new characters can be a pain. Coins can be gathered while playing, watching short video ads, and also as a mystery gift given to you are set intervals of time. You’ll need 100 coins to try your luck at the capsule machine to unlock characters. If you are super impatient or have extra real money burning a whole in your pocket, you can buy characters outright that can range from $0.99 to $2.99. Characters you can unlock are from favorites such as Zootopia, Mickey Mouse and Friends, Toy Story, Haunted Mansion, The Lion King, and Big Hero 6 just to name a few.

Overall, Disney Crossy Road isn’t really anything different from the the original Crossy Road, but just having the Disney name attached to it as well as the characters and themed levels makes for a much more appealing experience. You’ll be able to collect characters you actually know and that in itself is probably the reason why this game is so popular right now in the app stores.
