AbyssRium Review – Your Personal Virtual Aquarium | Mobile

abyssrium_iconAbyssRium has me hooked. I’ve been playing this virtual aquarium tapping game for the past week or so and I can’t put it down. The funny thing is that there isn’t really much to the game other than tapping on the screen an insane number of times so you can gain vitality to purchase items to spruce up your aquarium. There’s just something about it though that has me hooked and I just can’t seem to put it down.

The game is a virtual aquarium that centers around a Stone, which is much like an underground volcano. Your entire habitat will center around the Stone as you make additions to it such as new corals and tons of different species of fish and aquatic life. New additions are gained by spending vitality and the only way to get more of it is by tapping the screen.

You start off producing very little vitality but as you upgrade items and gain more additions, the amount of vitality you can gain increases exponentially which is good because so does the cost of items. You’ll soon discover later down the line that some items require a crazy amount of vitality and the only way to get to that amount is to spend your vitality on upgrades so you can produce more of it. It’s a vicious cycle that keeps you hooked and coming back for more.

Vitality isn’t the only form of currency in the game though as there are also gems you can spend. Gems can be acquired daily via log in bonuses, photo quests, as  well as watching some ads. You can even use real money to purchase gems, though I haven’t needed to go this route yet. For me, it’s just a really relaxing game where I can just watch my virtual aquarium grow and thrive.

AbyssRium is a beautiful game that doesn’t require too much of a learning curve. It’s even possible to play it without tapping, though it would take quite a long time to reach the desired amount of vitality quickly. This is one of those games that you can open up when you’re bored or waiting around and just tap away or just stare at your screen and marvel at what you’ve created.
